After the 2020 census, Virginia’s Supreme Court created new maps for all of Virginia’s congressional and state legislative districts. The new 35th state senate district was created in that process! The new district borders Arlington and Alexandria in the East, and stretches West, across the 495 beltway, to include most of George Mason University. It includes NOVA Community College, Springfield, North Springfield, West Springfield, Kings Park, Annandale, Ravensworth, Mantua, Lake Barcroft, and Lake Accotink. It has over 217,000 residents, of whom approximately 146,000 are registered voters. It is considered a “strong Democratic“ district, so your vote will be especially important in the primary this year.
